The wedding day
In the afternoon the wedding party gathered on the alpine meadow above the lake house for the ceremony. Benches with white covers were prepared for the guests, chairs and an altar table were posed under the wooden arch. The arch was decorated with a flower garland made from ivy, blue hydrangeas and white roses and beneath the aisle flower holders with glasses and blue ribbons where stucked.
There were a few raindrops falling but at least it was not cold and all the guests where equipped with umbrellas, so the ceremony could start. An old friend of the family agreed to give the wedding speech and he did it in a highland uniform with all details up to the Sgian Dubh – really impressing in the middle of the Bavarian mountains.

Some photos were taken after the ceremony by Marc Gilsdorf Alpenwedding and then the newly-weds started to celebrate with their guests on the Riessersee lake terrasse. Some good food, cakes and drinks, blue flowers and decors, music by DJ Chris and a large sunblind to keep the little raindrops away, a cosy way to spend the afternoon while the couple was taking some more pictures with the photographer.
Before dinner hundred helium-filled balloons in the weddings colour scheme blue and white where released to the Bavarian sky. Special wishes where written with a marker on some balloons.

The tables were decorated in the wedding colours: Off white table cloth and cloth napkins, folded as pockets with the menu (made by Kartenmacherei) inside and the name tags with blue ribbons on it. The napkins where placed on glass plates. A special wish of the bride was “lots of candles” so we decided to go with a multitude of glass candle holders and floating candles in cream and blue. The center pieces were made by Passiflori: Glass vases with blue hydrangeas, cream white roses, bellflowers, chamomile and grasses, sticked in silver wire. Finally, some cream white rose blossoms where added.

The wedding favors for the ladies were sent over by the bride from Great Britain: Cute heart-shaped boxes with light blue decor wrapped in tulle. The male guests got a little bottle of Bavarian schnaps: Jägermeister. On top of the bottles we placed key ring holders with Bavarian hats.
The seating plan was placed on the window benches in the middle of the room and beside some special sweets. The decor of the ceremony was brought to the restaurant and for some extra candle light white wooden lanterns where placed next to the flowers. The gift table was decorated with a large silver candle holder and the flower garland from the ceremony.
So what is missing before the party with DJ Chris – he had even brought a photo booth and a karaoke equipment – could start? The wedding cake! The bakery Kroenner in Garmisch-Partenkirchen created a wedding cake from cup cakes decorated with little blue flowers and a big one on top of the etagere to be cutted by the wedding couple. The cup cakes had different flavours, all without alcohol because of the kids.
After cutting the cake a long party night started at the Riessersee lake house and so a late risers breakfast next morning was welcomed. Some of the guests left that day to travel home but some stayed one more night and enjoyed a trip to the “top of Germany”, the Zugspitze.
So we hope, the guests took all gorgeous memories home to Great Britain and we are looking forward to welcome some of them maybe again some day in our “little piece of heaven”. Thank you for spending this special day with us in our wedding venue at lake Riessersee!
