Wedding weekend start
The wedding weekend in the Bavarian alps started on Friday with a guided walk with one of the Garmisch-Partenkirchen tour guides. Claudia, the guide, brought a nice gift for the bride and groom to be and told interesting stories not only about the history of Garmisch-Partenkirchen but also about wedding specials in Bavaria. Everybody really enjoyed this sunny afternoon and all the informations about the Zugspitze area. Later on they enjoyed a nice rehearsal dinner at Techmer´s and after getting back to the wedding venue, Parkhotel Wallgau, a few nice hours at the Max & Moritz bar.
Wedding day
On the wedding morning I packed up my car with flowers, decoration items, documents – and of course, most important, my pink wedding planner emergency suitcase ;). This suitcase was a birthday gift from my little sister a few years ago and it has accompanied me for so many weddings. Everything eventually needed is in there: Scissors, ribbons, nail polish, stain remover, desinfection, tights, chargers for phones, glue, wire, candles, needles – thousand little things that might be helpful on the wedding day ;).
My first job the day was to pick the bridal bouquet and boutonniere at the flower shop (florist: Passiflori Penzberg) and deliver it to bride and groom. The bouquet was made from white flowers – ranunculus, roses and lily of the valley – with lilac and lavender. The boutonniere for the groom was a mini version of the brides bouqet.
Destination wedding at the Parkhotel Wallgau
And here are some pictures of the wedding venue: Parkhotel Wallgau, located between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald, very close to lake Walchensee and in the heart of the Bavarian alps. A very romantic destination and – as I have to say – really helpful in every detail. There was never a “that does not work” and everybody felt really welcome. As the bride said in the end: They did a phenomenal job!
While Jerriane Ritter (Beauty by Jerrianne) arrived for the getting ready of the bride and entourage there was even a surprise for the groom from the bride: Ramos from the barber shop in Garmisch-Partenkirchen came to do a “real shaving” with waxing and facial treatment.
Ceremony and dinner hall
This way leads to the ceremony and dinner hall, the “Kavaliersstube”. This room has an open galery where the wedding ceremony took place. Downstairs the large dinner table was prepared. It´s equipped with typical Bavarian furniture but it has even a touch of an old castle with it´s big open fireside place, Round Table setting and the chandelier on the ceiling.
The view from the galery was breath-taking: It was a bright and warm spring day with a special weather condition called “Föhn” and so the Karwendel mountains seemed to be just in front of the window. Perfect scenery for a destination wedding in the Bavarian alps…
After the ceremony everybody went out in the hotels garden and to the panorama terrace to have some drinks and Bavarian finger food like pretzel rolls and “Obazda” (marinated Camembert cheese) and Magnus Winterholler, the wedding photographer from “Gipfelliebe“, took a lot of pictures in the May sunshine. A very relaxed afternoon and I´m really excited to see Magnus wedding pictures of the day…
Wedding dinner
The wedding dinner took place inside again. Ginger bread hearts with the name of the guests were placed on the table as a wedding favor in the wedding colour scheme white and lilac.
This was not just a map but the guest book. Every guest signed on it and it will find it´s place in the couples home later. I think that is a very nice and sustainable idea to remind your wedding day and all the beloved ones around every day.
Wedding decor
The brides wish was even a sustainable table decor, no flowers because they will be gone in a few days and it would be a pitty to have them just for a few hours. The florist gave me two bridal bouquets that morning because she was unsure about the first one to meet the brides idea of it – and so I decided for the second one to be the centerpiece. I added some white wooden letters like “You & me” and “Smile” (it´s your wedding day! ;)) and tons of tealights. I formed two big hearts from candlelight on the big table and together with all the other items like fabrique napkins, glassware, porcelain and silver cutlery it looked really impressing, even without flowers.
I even liked the idea to “break the style“: The rustic decor of the “Kavaliersstube” and a reduced, modern and elegant table decoration.
The spring wedding menu at the Parkhotel:
Lukewarm
salad of marinated asparagus
cherry tomatoes, spring onions, herbs and Parma ham
thyme gravy, gazed vegetables and duchess potatoes
pike perch served with white wine foam,
of strawberry
The menu was followed by cutting the cake. The wedding cake was made of the brides boss and brought to Parkhotel the day before.
The morning after – time to say goodby
Next morning some of the wedding party and even the newly weds went up the Zugspitze, the highest mountain of Germany (2.962 m) to round up the mountain feeling of their wedding. Some others had to left early in the morning to get their flights and I arranged some shuttles to Munich airport.
So I really hope Helen and Ryan have some unique memories to their wonderful wedding and return some day to the Garmisch-Partenkirchen area. All best wishes and thank you for choosing 4 weddings & events as your wedding planner service in Bavaria!
