Let´s try again a wedding blog report in English! In the middle of May we were happy to host a wedding from the United States here in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, at the Riessersee Hotel.
The “wedding vacation” started with the arrival and rehearsal on Monday, followed by a “get together” at the Bob cabin in the woods Tuesday night. The brides wish was a sunflower table decoration that night but in May we were not lucky with this. But the florist made a decision for yellow flowers to match the colour of sunflowers and so the bob cottage looked bright and sunny that night. The Koitaboch-Musi was playing Bavarian music and a crispy pigling and German beer satisfied the guests and everyone was in a good mood for the great day.
The night at the cottage ended with a torch light walk back to the hotel and the wedding day next morning started with sunshine from a clear blue heaven above the snowy mountains of Bavaria.
Hairdressers from the saloon “Deniz” in Garmisch-Partenkirchen took care of the getting ready, hair-do and make-up for bride and company. Meanwhile the bridal bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets were delivered to the hotel by Passiflori Blumen Penzberg. Machting the colours of the brides Dirndl the bouquets were made from roses and peonies in shades of pink and cream white.
In the early afternoon the ceremony with Pfarrer Reitlinger from the protestant church took place on the alpine meadow above the lake house with a fantastic panorama view to the mountains of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and lake Riessersee. The wooden arch was decorated with flower garlands and the same flowers were planted in hanging glasses along the aisle, decorated with fine ribbons. Benches and chairs had white covers and “Mr” & “Mrs” signs were placed on the back of the couples chairs.
After the ceremony the wedding company gathered on the Riessersee raft for a roundtrip on the lake. Here we served Bavarian and Mediterranean delicacies like pretzels and Caprese sticks and beer and Prosecco while the alp horns were playing on the shores of lake Riessersee.
The sun was still shining and so everyone was happy that the cutting of the cake took place under the shades of the sunblinds on the lake terrace. The wedding cake was French Vanilla with coconut icing and decorated with mixed berries, made by the Kroenner bakery in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Meanwhile the dinner room at the lake house was prepared. Some special gifts for the couple got a special place: Two Bavarian beer mugs and a traditional Nuernberg Bridal cup (please see story below).
To match again the brides Dirndl colours we had chosen table cloth and napkins in cream white. The flower arrangements (Passiflori Blumen Penzberg) were in shades of Pink in various glasses with some greenery and we added floating candles in pale pink and rose petals.
The wedding menu (Kartenmacherei) was printed on pale pink paper and placed on the glass plates together with the napkins and wedding favors (M&M chocolates in heart shaped boxes with the printed picture of the couple printed on the sweets).
A ribbon in pale pink was added to the decoration. It was the same ribbon like on the brides Dirndl.
By the way, the wedding photographer was Marc Gilsdorf from Alpenwedding and the couple was really happy that they have chosen him, he did a wonderful job.
For the music on the wedding day the Koitaboch-Musi played again and so the wedding party celebrated in a good mood into the small hours. The wedding vacation at the Riessersee Hotel was followed by a trip to Neuschwanstein castle before everyone travelled back to the United states.
