It was a breath-taking beautiful winter day in early December when Kira and Nick elopped in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with their closest family and friends. They wanted to keep it simple with a romantic ceremony in a historic place with stunning mountain backdrop. The castle ruin Werdenfels is overlooking Garmisch-Partenkirchen and has an amazing view to the valley and the surrounding Wetterstein and Karwendel mountains. We added some little extras like sheep skins to sit on, lots of candles as we planned a sunset ceremony and torch lights for the way home.

First look & couple shooting
Patricia, the stylist, met Kira in her hotel room at the AJA hotel Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Marc, the wedding photographer, picked them up for a first look and couple shooting in the most beautiful sceneries around Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Meanwhile, we prepared everything for the wedding ceremony at the Werdenfels castle ruin. The brides wish was a wintry bouquet, matching the grooms tie color and her soft peach coloured dress.

Ceremony at the castle ruin
After two hours of couple shooting Kira and Nick headed of to the castle ruin with the photographer. Everything was well prepared here, we guided the wedding party from the parking lot to the ruin (they were informed that there will be an outdoor ceremony and a little winter hike) and lighted the candles once we get the message that bride and groom are upon arrival.

During the ceremony round 4 pm the sun was setting. In early December it´s getting dark by 5, 5:30 pm and we wanted to make sure to have the sunset pictures but also to get everyone back to town before it was night. While the sun was going down behind the Bavarian alps the candles we lit before were coming out more and more shining and it turned out to be a magical setup. Champagne for toasts was served to couple and guests and the valley and mountain view with moonlight above was so stunning that noone wanted to leave the scenery.

Moonlight in the mountains

Thank you so much, Kira and Nick, for letting us be part of your unique mountain adventure wedding – it was a pleasure to meet you and we wish you all the best for your happily ever after!

Bride and groom led their guests back to the parking lot with torch lights and cabs picked them up for a Bavarian reception dinner at the Gasthaus zur Schranne in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
