Once upon a time… a bride, a groom, their family and friends went from the USA to Germany for an unforgettable destination wedding weekend. To make the magic happen, they engaged me as their wedding planner and I´m thankyful for this honor. It was great to be part of this fairytale wedding at Schloss Neuburg an der Donau.
Friday was the offical arrival day. Everyone flew in on Friday and the first steps in Germany led the group to the Weihenstephan brewery for a guided tour and lunch. Afterwords a bus picked all the guests and the luggage and brought them to Neuburg an der Donau near Ingolstadt. Three hotels were booked here for the wedding party and guests and everyone checked in and had a little leisure time for getting refreshed before the official rehearsal dinner at the Neuwirt. Neuburg awaited us with fantastic late summer weather and sunshine (it was the first October weekend) so everyone was in a good mood.

Wedding day in Neuburg!
The wedding party was accommodated at the panorama hotel „Die Aussicht“. The wonderful manager Michael was also responsible for the catering at the Schloss and he was incredible helpful not only during the planning time but also onsite.
The stylists Simone and Susanne arrived in the morning to take care of bride and bridesmaids. Marc, the photographer, checked-in the day before together with me because some of the guests were registered for the Audi Driver Experience at Ingolstadt and he took pictures of these event first before coming back to the hotel for the Getting Ready pics. It has started to rain but everyone was still in a good mood and the Schloss was well heated, the hotel is only a two minutes walk away from the castle.
Ceremony at the Schloss chapel

Schloss Neuburg an der Donau was built back in 1505 and owns a wonderful historic chapel where the 120 wedding guests found their place. We did not to much decoration here because the chapel itself is so beautiful. Just added some flowers next to the altar and for the benches and a welcome sign at the entrance. A string quintett was playing for ceremony and cocktail hour.

Wedding reception at the Schlosshof
Bride and groom were more then lucky – the sun came out right after the ceremony so the cocktail hour could take place in the Schlosshof under the clear blue sky! While having some drinks and food guided tours through the Schloss were offered and all the group pictures were taken outside.

Dinner & dancing

The hall and ball room was absolutely stunning. Over 500 years breathing history, an arch ceiling, checkerboard floor, gobelins… The table decor and flowers matched perfect with this atmosphere. Soft colors, mainly dusty green, blush, dusty rose, cream and white, very elegant. The couple had the wonderful idea to write a personal letter (!) to every (!) guest and even the vendors. I was so touched by getting a very personal welcome letter, thank you again for this special wedding planner moment Mackenzie and Grayson, it was for sure a lot of work to write all these letters, but definitively worth it. One of the best wedding favors I have ever seen.
The food from the Catering was a fantastic mixture of buffet and served menu. Everything was tasty, hot and served quickly with a very attentive service.

Cutting the cake

The wedding cake was a 4 layer cake with different fillings and a simple, elegant style. The cake topper was added short before the cutting and was very special: It runs in the brides family since the 1950s and it was very special, emotional moment when the parents realized what was on top of the cake… We also arranged a wedding sign for the cake so that the guests could see what is inside (especially for allergies and special nutrition effords). After the cake cutting the father of the bride and me got ahead to distribute the cake to the wedding guests – the fastets cutting I´ve ever done. Thank you very much Doug, it was a pleasure to work with you and I will take care that you get a piece of Prinzregententorte when you every come back to Bavaria!

Wedding night at Schloss Neuburg
It was a fantastic party at the Schloss. Nearly everybody was dancing and having fun! The plan was to end the party at midnight with a sparkler send off and get everybody home till 1 am because the busses to Munich for an Oktoberfest visit were planned to leave early next morning. Well, the plan was good – the party even better! Some fire pits were set up outdoors, cosy little areas in the dark Schlosshof to get fresh air and relax from dancing. But at least everybody made it back home in the hotel after a gorgeous sparkler send off!
