When it comes to destination weddings in Germany, few places are as magical as Garmisch-Partenkirchen. At the end of June 2025, I had the joy of planning and celebrating the wedding of Olivia and Curt, a wonderful couple from New York, who chose the exclusive mountain hideaway Das Graseck as their wedding venue. Surrounded by breathtaking Alpine views and loved ones who had traveled from all around the globe, it was truly a celebration to remember.

The Setting: Das Graseck – An elegant Mountain Hideaway

Perched high above downtown Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, Das Graseck offered the perfect combination of elegance and natural beauty. The couple had booked the entire hotel exclusively for their destination wedding weekend, giving guests the chance to enjoy the intimacy and charme of a private mountain retreat with spa area and hiking pathes all around. With panoramic views of the Karwendel mountains, the stage was set for a once-in-a-lifetime celebration.

The morning: Getting Ready with laughter and love

The wedding day began in the spacious suites of Das Graseck and in the air condition equipped seminar rooms with large window fronts and balcony. So bright, so light, so lovely. Both, Olivia and Curt, prepared for their big moment surrounded by their best friends and parents. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, music and happy anticipation. While Olivia and her bridesmaids enjoyed the excitement of hair, make up and champagne toasts, Curt and his groomsmen shared jokes and stories that set a joyful tone for the day. These hours before the ceremony created some of the most heartfelt and emotional memories – a beautiful reminder that the journey to „I do“ is just as meaningful as the vows themselves.

The Ceremony: Saying “I Do” with a Mountain View

Olivia and Curt envisioned a romantic, airy atmosphere with soft summer tones. Their wedding colors were built around a delicate grapefruit shade, complemented by gentle pastels – a palette that perfectly captured the freshness and lightness of an Alpine summer. From floral arrangements to table settings, every detail reflected this elegant harmony of colors.

The symbolic wedding ceremony took place on the Grasecks patio, with lush green grass underfoot and the dramatic Karwendel peaks of the Bavarian Alps as a backdrop. It was a deeply moving moment, filled with love and joy of uniting families and friends from across the world in one unforgettable place.

Wedding celebration: From garden cocktails to midnight snacks

After the ceremony, guests gathered in the hotels garden for the cocktail hour and champagne toasts with delicious canapés and live music, creating a relaxed and joyful summer wedding atmosphere. Dinner was served in the beautifully decorated restaurant, where large windows framed the stunning mountain scenery. As the sun set behind the peaks, guests enjoyed a truly magical golden hour.

When night fell, the party continued with a lively DJ set and plenty of dancing. A midnight snack gave everyone the energy to keep celebrating long into the night – the perfect ending to a perfect wedding day!
